Hi, I’m Laura , the face behind Pinnies Hair, based in West Sussex.
You might be wondering where the name Pinnies Hair comes from! "Pinnie" was my nickname at school, thanks to my unusual maiden name, and it stuck. When it came to naming my business, it felt like the perfect fit, personal, familiar, and a little piece of my story.
I’m a bridal hairstylist with a lifelong love of hair. My earliest memory is sitting perfectly still at the age of six, completely mesmerised in the salon, when my hairdresser told me, “you’re going to be a hair stylist.” From that moment, I was hooked. My mum couldn’t walk past a salon without me begging to go in, and I was always fascinated by the brushes, braids, and blow-dries.
Some of my favourite childhood memories are at my nan’s house, having my hair set in rollers, rags, or braids overnight. I could never wait to see the result in the morning. On holidays, I’d happily spend hours watching braiding on the beach or observing extensions being fitted, completely in awe of the craft.
At 13, I had my first professional blow-dry and was amazed to see my hair come out sleek and smooth without straighteners. That was the moment I knew I wanted to make people feel that same confidence and excitement.
I started my career at 14 with a Saturday job sweeping floors and assisting in the salon, but most importantly, watching, learning, and absorbing everything I could. At school, I confidently said I would become a hair stylist, even when I was told I was “too clever” for it… and I’m glad I proved them wrong.
From there, I trained and built my experience across a range of salons, always gravitating towards bridal and occasion styling. After Christmas 2015, I took the leap into self-employment and fully focused on bridal hair — and I haven’t looked back since. The creativity, flexibility, and joy of wedding mornings made it the perfect path for me.
I continue to invest in education and training whenever I can, because I believe staying inspired and current is key to creating beautiful, modern styles for my brides.
I’m a dog lover, a wife, and mum to two children and one very special fur baby. I’m also known for being a bit of a chatterbox, and I bring a calm, fun, friendly, and positive energy to wedding mornings, helping you feel relaxed, confident, and completely yourself.
In short… I’ve never wanted to do anything else.
Now you've heard my story, I'd love to hear yours,
Laura xxxx
